NBC has set the date for the wrap-up to the nine-season run of its comedy series “The Office.” The one-hour finale will air Thursday, May 16, at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
The episode will be the show’s 200th. NBC did not provide other details, but news has already circulated that longtime series star Steve Carell will not be a part of the final episode.
Carell, who played the original boss Michael Scott, told Access Hollywood recently: “I just didn’t think it was right for the character, because that character had had an arc within the story and kind of grew and sort of evolved past the idea of the documentary. I’m really good friends with everybody on the cast and with [executive producer] Greg Daniels and I want to go back to say, ‘Hi,’ certainly, before it all ends. But I just thought, in terms of the character, it didn’t make sense.”
