An animated television program based on the popular online game FarmVille is in the works from "Prison Break" producer Brett Ratner, reports Deadline.com.

The half-hour animated show doesn’t yet have a network attached. Ratner, who was ousted in 2011 as producer of the Oscars after saying "rehearsal is for fags," will serve as executive producer. He later apologized for the comment.

He’s working with Six Eleven Media on the FarmVille project.

FarmVille was started in 2009 by game maker Zynga, and is popular on Facebook and MSN Games.

In a statement, Ratner said: “FarmVille is one of the most exciting brands out there today and its cross-platform opportunities are endless. I am thrilled to be expanding the brand with existing fans and also engaging a whole new audience.”

Ratner is also known for directing the “Rush Hour” film series and “X-Men: The Last Stand.”
