Disney Channel has ordered a new animated program. Deadline.com reports that the channel ordered "Star and the Forces of Evil" from recent California Institute of the Arts graduate Daron Nefcy.

Nefcy, who graduated in 2009, recently worked on Disney Channel’s animated series "Wonder Over Yonder" and the Warner Bros. animated series "MAD."

"When Daron pitched her show, we fell in love with her characters, her style, and her sensibility," said Eric Coleman, senior vice president, original series at Disney TV Animation.

The show is about Star Butterfly, a magical teen princess from another dimension who is sent by her parents to live with the Diaz family in our world. She ends up enlisting their son to help her fight evil villains, the story says.

The main character of Star will be voiced by "The Middle" actress Eden Sher, with the network slating a fall 2014 debut.
