The Oscar winner for best director at the recent Academy Awards will make his television debut with the pilot for FX’s "Tyrant," reports the Los Angeles Times’ Show Tracker. Ang Lee will direct the drama project from Howard Gordon and Gideon Raff of "Homeland."

The project is Lee’s first work since winning his second directing Oscar, which he was awarded for "Life of Pi," the story notes. Lee also won an Oscar for “Brokeback Mountain” in 2006.

"Tyrant,” about an American family drawn into the workings of a Middle Eastern country, begins production this summer, the piece adds.
