CBS has cast an actress known for her role in "Game of Thones" as a love interest in its Sherlock Holmes series "Elementary."’s Inside TV reports that Natalie Dormer, known for portraying Margaery Tyrell in "Game of Thones," will play Irene Adler in "Elementary."

Adler, a character who appeared in Arthur Conan Doyle’s Holmes mysteries, is often seen as a romantic interest for the famous detective.

Dormer will appear in a three-episode arc, with the character described as "perhaps the most pivotal relationship in Sherlock’s life," according a statement from creator Rob Doherty.

However, her death at the hands of Holmes’ arch-rival Moriarty has already been mentioned on the show.

"We’re moving to the next chapter in our show — and in some ways, to a previous chapter in Holmes’ story,” Doherty said.
