Monday’s prime-time broadcast ratings saw some role reversal as ratings-challenged NBC had its numbers surge while perennial ratings leader CBS endured a night of season lows and series lows, based on Nielsen overnights.

TVbytheNumbers.com reports that CBS’s full prime-time lineup equaled or surpassed its low marks in the key 18-49 demo: series lows for “2 Broke Girls” (2.3 average rating, down 23% from its previous original), “Mike & Molly” (2.2, down 15%) and “Hawaii Five-0” (1.8, down 14%, equaling its series low), and season lows for “How I Met Your Mother” (2.6, down 4%) and “Rules of Engagement” (2.0, down 9%).

NBC, meanwhile, hit a season high in viewers 18-49 with its two-hour “The Voice” (5.1 average rating, up 2% from a week ago). The network pre-empted “Revolution” at 10 p.m. to cover the Boston Marathon bombing — the only broadcast net to pre-empt prime-time programming for the breaking news — and won the hour with a 3.1.

ABC managed a 2.2 average in 18-49 for its two-hour “Dancing with the Stars” going head-to-head with “The Voice,” a 5% bump from last week. “Castle” delivered a 2.1, dipping 5% from its previous original.

Fox’s two dramas were both down 5% in adults 18-49 from their previous originals, with “Bones” registering a 1.9 in viewers 18-49 and “The Following” settling for a 2.1.

NBC scored a big win for prime time overall in the 18-49 demo, averaging a 4.5 rating to lead ABC (2.2 average), CBS (2.1) and Fox (2.0). NBC also squeaked out a win in total viewers, averaging 12.5 million to ABC’s 12.4 million, CBS’s 7.2 million and Fox’s 6.1 million.
