Has Fox’s ‘Cleveland Show’ Been Canceled? Here’s What Sources at the Network Are Saying

After a report surfaced that Fox’s "The Cleveland Show" had been canceled, network sources were trying to clarify the situation. The Los Angeles Times’ Show Tracker reports that Fox denied the report, although sources did not go on the record for the story.

The animated series has been airing for four seasons. “While not saying anything on the record, Fox sources say the show — about black patriarch Cleveland Brown and his family — hasn’t been canceled, although the network hasn’t ordered any new episodes, either,” the piece reports.

The show could go on hiatus, the story notes, giving Fox a chance to focus on its other animated series such as "The Simpsons," "Family Guy" and "Bob’s Burgers.”

“It wouldn’t be unprecedented for ‘Cleveland’ to come back: Both ‘Family Guy’ and ‘King of the Hill’ were taken off the schedule and returned later,” the story reports, adding: “The cancellation news came from a blog posting by Steve Hulett of the Animation Guild, a trade union associated with IATSE.”

The show has been something less than a ratings blockbuster, the report notes: “Last season, the series averaged fewer than 4 million total viewers and was No. 16 out of 19 shows on Fox, according to Nielsen.”

  1. We should check with CNN and see what their reporters have discovered – cancelled or not?
