HBO has taken the wraps off its plan for a drama series that will be back for a new season starting in July. Deadline.com reports that season two of “The Newsroom” will premiere July 14.
“The Aaron Sorkin-created TV journalism series first premiered on HBO on June 24, 2012,” the report notes. “HBO announced a second-season pickup for ‘The Newsroom’ on July 2, 2012. The show stars Jeff Daniels, Emily Mortimer, Olivia Munn, and Sam Waterston.”
Jane Fonda and Terry Crews played recurring characters during the show’s first season, the piece notes.
The show’s first-season finale, which aired Aug. 26, attracted a season-high 2.3 million viewers, the report adds.
