MTV is moving forward with a TV adaptation of the “Scream” movies, announcing at its upfront presentation Thursday that it has greenlighted a pilot for the project.

“MTV and Dimension Films’ one-hour pilot will reinvent the successful horror comedy franchise that spawned three sequels and unleashed ‘Ghostface’ to a legion of unsuspecting fans,” the channel announced in a press release. “MTV and Dimension Films are in discussions with various writers for the potential series, which would be slated for a summer 2014 debut on the network. Dimension Films is in discussions with the films’ original director and renowned filmmaker Wes Craven to direct the one-hour pilot. DiGa Vision will serve as a producer.”

The cable channel also took the wraps off three new series that are being added to its programming slate: “Generation Cryo,” “Nurse Nation” (working title) and “The Hook Up” (working title).

MTV also announced it is bringing back “Snooki & JWoww” for a third season, part of a lineup of 15 returning shows.

The channel’s upfront presentation in New York featured performances by Selena Gomez and Emeli Sande.

MTV2 revealed it is greenlighting “Guy Court,” and unveiled plans for a new version of “Nick Cannon Presents Wild N Out.” The channel is picking up “Mac Miller and the Most Dope Family” for a second season.
