Amazon Nearing Orders for Original Series

Amazon Studios is getting closer to picking up some of its pilots to series, and has started notifying those projects that are getting series orders, reports Nellie Andreeva at Deadline.com.

Those considered likely to receive an order include "Alpha House," which stars John Goodman and is written by Garry Trudeau, and "Betas," produced by Michael London.

"I also hear positive things about ‘The Onion Presents: The News,’ starring Jeffrey Tambor, from The Onion’s Will Graham & Dan Mirk, and ‘Zombieland,’ based on the hit movie, written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, though their fate is unclear," Andreeva writes.

The orders would mark the first original series for Amazon, and are coming out of its first slate of 14 pilots — eight comedies and six children’s shows.
