CBS is in talks to take full ownership of TVGuide.com, after being in a 50/50 partnership with Lionsgate since spending $100 million in March to buy the stake previously owned by One Equity Partners, reports Nellie Andreeva at Deadline.com.

"I’ve learned that CBS is in negotiations with Lionsgate about acquiring its half of TVGuide.com," Andreeva writes. "The website had been valued at about $20 million, and I hear CBS is paying a little shy of $10 million for Lionsgate’s half of the Web property."

The discussions come after DirecTV had been in exclusive talks to buy TVGuide.com, with those negotiations failing to produce an agreement, Andreeva writes.

CBS wants to include TVGuide.com in its interactive division, which includes TV.com, CNET, CBS.com and other sites.

  1. Am I the only one who thinks this is not going to be good for consumers?
Why do I have the feeling that my computer-based, TV-Guide-program-dependent, DVR will become worthless in the not-too-distant future?
