Fox Cancels Drama Series — Does This Mean Another Series Will Return?

Fox announced it is canceling a drama series, raising the possibility that another Fox series could return to the network.

"Touch," the drama starring Kiefer Sutherland, has been canceled, reports the Los Angeles Times’ Show Tracker. The thriller ran for two seasons and was Sutherland’s follow-up to "24," but "Touch" never reached the same ratings levels, the story notes. The first season averaged about 7 million viewers, but its second season is averaging only 3.8 million viewers.

But Sutherland could return to Fox on "24," given that the network is considering bringing back the show as a limited event series, reports Deadline.com.

There have been attempts to bring "24" to the movie screen, but they haven’t worked out, the story notes. Howard Gordon, currently the executive producer on Showtime’s "Homeland," has pitched the idea of starting a new story arc, and "24" producers 20th Century Fox TV, Imagine TV and Fox all "jumped on board," according to the report.
