Subject matter from the battlefields of Afghanistan to the inner workings of the American mob will be spotlighted during the summer months on National Geographic Channel, which announced an aggressive lineup of original programming set to debut from June through August.
New programs and documentary specials will be featured along with fresh installments of many of the cable channel’s franchise programs. Five new series are being featured, including “Battleground Afghanistan” and “Inside the American Mob.”
Other new series are “Eyewitness War,” focusing on groups including the Army, the Navy and the Drug Enforcement Administration; “Inside: Secret America,” following underground networks involved in activities such as guns, drugs and the paranormal; and “Doomsday Castle,” spotlighting a man and his 10 kids living in a castle deep in the South Carolina woods and preparing for the worst.
Upcoming specials include “Crossing the Ice,” about a trek to the South Pole, and “Touching the Dragon,” about a man’s unusual relationship with a 15-foot crocodile.
