NBC’s "The Voice" will be pre-empted tonight, Tuesday, May 21, 2013, so that the network can air a one-hour special hosted by Brian Williams live from the scene of the tornado-devastated communities near Oklahoma City, reports Deadline.com.

"NBC Nightly News" will air in its regular 6:30 p.m. slot and won’t be expanded, while "Today’s” Matt Lauer, Savannah Guthrie, Al Roker, Natalie Morales and Willie Geist will all report from Moore, Okla., where much of the damage was centered, the story notes.

NBC’s sibling networks MSNBC and the Weather Channel will focus much of their reporting today on the tornado and its destruction, the story adds.

"The Voice" episode that will be pre-empted is a recap show that was set to feature the top 10 performances. A new live episode will air Wednesday night as scheduled.

CBS, meanwhile, announced plans to expand the “CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley” to 90 minutes tonight, 6:30-8 p.m. ET, for coverage of the aftermath of the tornado, with Pelley anchoring live from Moore.

"ABC World News" has also sent staffers to the tornado-damaged region and the network has been covering the disaster on "Nightline" as well, but plans for tonight’s coverage were not known at our deadline.
