NBCUniversal-owned Spanish-language broadcaster Telemundo Media revealed that it is in business with Ryan Seacrest and Donald Trump, Advertising Age reports.

“The slate of new shows announced at Telemundo’s upfront presentation on Tuesday night at Lincoln Center included ‘Duelo Musical: Super Estrella’ (‘Superstar Showdown’), a showdown between two different music stars each week who face off in four rounds of music-based games and sing-offs that the audience will vote on,” the story reports. “The showdown will be produced in association with Ryan Seacrest Productions in the ‘American Idol’ producer’s first foray into Spanish-language programming.”

The report adds: “Telemundo, part of Comcast-owned NBCUniversal, is also creating Miss Latina USA, a combination reality show and beauty pageant whose winner will go on to compete in the Miss Universe pageant. This will be the first time another U.S. contestant in addition to the official Miss USA pageant winner will be part of the Miss Universe competition. NBC co-owns the Miss Universe Organization with Donald Trump, and Miss Universe already airs on Telemundo as well as NBC.”

The story notes that Telemundo had its highest ratings yet in the first quarter of this year, and has reported adding more than 110 new advertisers since last year’s upfront.

The report adds: “In other new moves, Telemundo is setting up a multiplatform studio called Fluency to develop and produce bilingual programming. And the company announced TelemundoMas, a full-length player for the Web and mobile devices that lets users watch full-length episodes of Telemundo programs the day after they are broadcast.”

The network also unveiled a new telenovela, "La Impostora," which features “a waitress and aspiring actress who is hired by a famous Hollywood star to pose as a millionaire investor and infiltrate his dead girlfriend’s family to find his long-lost son,” the story notes.
