One network group dominated the Sports Emmys, awarded Tuesday night by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Taking home a whopping 23 trophies was NBC Sports Group, consisting of NBC, NBC Sports Network, nbcolympics.com, Bravo, CNBC, MSNBC and Telemundo.

The NBC group left its rivals in the dust, with the next-highest total being seven awards for Turner Sports — TNT, TBS and NBA TV. HBO Sports snagged six Emmys, while ESPN — ESPN, ESPN 2 and ESPN 3D –came in with five.

Among the trophies for NBC, the broadcast network won Outstanding Live Sports Special for its coverage of Super Bowl XLVI, “Sunday Night Football” won Outstanding Live Sports Series, and Outstanding Live Event Turnaround went to the network’s Games of the XXX Olympiad.

Fox won Outstanding Playoff Coverage for the National League Championship Series, HBO earned a trophy for Outstanding Sports Documentary for “Namath” and CBS Sports Network claimed the trophy for Outstanding Edited Sports Special for “One Heartbeat.”
