The revival of the Fox drama "24" has signed a key player from the original version of the series. The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports that Jon Cassar, who produced and directed 59 episodes of the original series, has joined the project.

Cassar will direct the first two episodes of the 12-episode event series from Howard Gordon, 20th Television and Imagine TV, the story notes. He will be working again with actor Kiefer Sutherland, after Cassar recently directed him in a 2012 episode of the canceled Fox drama "Touch."

"Jon was a profoundly integral part of ’24’ creatively and culturally," Gordon said. "It doesn’t feel like it would be ’24’ without him, and we’re all just really thrilled to be working with him again.”
