Broadcast Ratings: Reality Franchise Hits Season Low

Two major reality franchises each ran into ratings snags in a head-to-head clash Monday night, based on Nielsen overnights for the key 18-49 demo.

TVbytheNumbers.com reports that ABC’s two-hour “The Bachelorette” sank to a season low, while NBC’s two-hour performance finale for “The Voice” was down from last year’s finale. Even so, “The Voice” was strong enough to propel NBC to a big win for the night.

“The Bachelorette” delivered a 1.6 average rating in viewers 18-49, down two-tenths from a week ago and the lowest number of the season. Leading out from it, ABC’s “Mistresses” dipped to a 1.2, also down two-tenths from last week.

NBC’s “The Voice” managed a 3.5 in the 18-49 demo, up two-tenths of a ratings point from last week but down three-tenths from the performance finale a year ago. “The Winner Is …” delivered a 2.0, rising two-tenths from a week ago.

CBS aired an all-repeat lineup, while Fox mixed repeats and originals. Fox’s fresh installment of “The Goodwin Games” mustered only a 0.5 average rating in adults 18-49, slipping one-tenths from the previous week. The broadcast airing of “Anger Management” on Fox lost two-tenths from last week, settling for a 0.5.

For prime time overall, NBC was well ahead of the pack with a 3.0 average rating in the 18-49 demo, leading ABC (1.5 average), Univision (1.4), CBS (0.9) and Fox (0.6). NBC also claimed a huge win in total viewers, averaging 10.5 million to ABC’s 4.9 million, CBS’s 4.1 million, Univision’s 3.8 million and Fox’s 1.5 million.
