A spinoff of the spy drama “Hunted” starring that show’s female lead is in the works at Cinemax. Deadline.com reports that HBO/Cinemax and Frank Spotnitz of "The X Files" are developing "Sam Hunter."

The spinoff will star Australian beauty Melissa George reprising her role as Sam, an agent who works in private espionage. She’s on the run from her former employer and has to protect her young daughter while trying to find out who’s trying to kill her, the story says.

Cinemax plans to debut the show as a four-hour miniseries, which Spotnitz is writing.

"Hunted," which also starred Adam Rayner, earned solid ratings for Cinemax, but partner BBC One last year decided not to renew the series for a second season and continuing the show without the BBC’s involvement wasn’t possible, the story notes.
