QVC, Which Had Been Weighing What to Do About Paula Deen, Makes a Decision. It’s More Bad News for Deen, but There’s a Caveat

"QVC CEO Mike George says in a blog post that ‘for now’ Paula Deen ‘won’t be appearing on any upcoming broadcasts and we will phase out her product assortment on our online sales channels over the next few months." reports our good friend David Lieberman at Deadline.com.

The story continues, "The site offers a Deen-branded line of cookware. The shopping channel chief adds that ‘People deserve second chances. And we always strive to do the right thing.’ ”

The article also notes that following the note written by the QVC CEO, "Deen writes one of her own expressing appreciation for ‘the caring way that QVC has interacted with me over the past week.’ She also says that she has ‘some important things to work on right now, both personally and professionally’ and agrees that ‘it’s best for me to step back from QVC and focus on setting things right.’ Deen says that she is ‘truly sorry and assure you I will work hard to earn your forgiveness.’

So QVC’s decision is to dump Deen for now, with the proviso that at some point in the future they might decide to do business with her again.

Earlier today,as previously reported, retail giant Target also decided to cut ties with Deen.

  1. This is just getting beyond ridiculous.
What’s next–ask her to leave the country?
Join Snowden at some airport in Russia, China, Ecuador or where ever.
The stupidity level in this country has reached an all time high.

  2. The only thing ridiculous is that fat cow hawking her bad food all over the place while spewing invectives and racist comments. Send her away and don’t allow her a forum. She stinks to high heaven and we have more important things to focus on instead of that idiot woman.

  3. You are so right. All the people like you, who have never made a mistake and are without any sin, should find where she is and stone her to death. No one should ever have a second chance. It is a joy to read comments from such clear thinking, perfect people. It’s also a good thing that you have such a short memory that you can’t remember anything bad you have done. Sure wouldn’t want you to have to stone yourself.

  4. As a southern resident whose wife has worked in food service her entire 60 yrs of life, I can speak for most every cook in the south, both black and white, (in the south it is mostly black) that the word in question is said nearly daily in every possible context. Is it right, no. Is it worth all of this? Hell no. As with all things American, speak your mind with your purse strings and shut your mouth, it will sort out.
