Even on a night when a CBS franchise show rose to a season high, Spanish-language broadcaster topped all of its English-language broadcast rivals in prime time Thursday night, based on Nielsen overnights for the key 18-49 demo.

TVbytheNumbers.com reports that Univision finished prime time with a 1.8 average in viewers 18-49. That was better than CBS (1.7 average), Fox (1.6), ABC (1.0) and NBC (0.9). CBS moved to the top spot in total viewers, averaging 6.0 million, followed by ABC (4.7 million), Univision (4.4 million), Fox (3.9 million) and NBC (3.8 million).

The CBS reality franchise "Big Brother" continued to turn in solid numbers for summer, rising to a season-high 2.3 average rating in the 18-49 demo, two-tenths of a point higher than last week. The rest of the CBS lineup consisted of reruns.

Fox went head-to-head against "Big Brother" at 9 p.m. with a fresh episode of "Hell’s Kitchen," which held its own, shedding only one-tenth from a week ago with a 2.0 average. A recycled "Hell’s Kitchen" at 8 p.m. managed only a 1.2.

ABC’s lineup of all-new programming turned in improved but still less-than-stellar numbers: a 1.1 for "Wipeout" in viewers 18-49, up one-tenth from last week; a 0.8 for "Motive," matching last week’s number; and a 1.1 for "Rookie Blue," up one-tenth from last week’s season low.

NBC settled for a 0.9 in 18-49 for "The Winner Is …," off two-tenths from a week ago, and a 1.2 for "Hollywood Game Night," also down two-tenths.
