Group Says Heavily Emmy-Nominated Show Illustrates ‘Hollywood’s Hatred of Catholicism’

The Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights has issued a statement condemning the show that received more Emmy nominations than any other show this year.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the conservative group is targeting FX’s "American Horror Story: Asylum" and its 17 Emmy nominations, calling it an example of "Hollywood’s hatred of Catholicism."

The group’s Bill Donohue also criticized The Hollywood Reporter and Variety for declining to run an anti-"Asylum" ad last year, before the show aired on TV.

"This show, which leads the pack with 17 Emmy nominations, depicted a Catholic home for the criminally insane run by sadistic and libidinous nuns. The plot is sinister. Characters include a nymphomaniac, a lesbian, a degenerate bully, a serial killer and a doctor who enjoys torturing patients. What a bunch!" Donohue said in the statement.

He added, "What other group receives such treatment? Once again, TV has sunk lower than we ever thought possible. Talk about crazy!"

A representative for FX wasn’t immediately available for comment, the story says.

Among its many nominations, the show received Emmy nods for outstanding miniseries or movie; outstanding lead actress in a miniseries or movie for Jessica Lange, who plays Sister Jude Martin on the show; two nods for outstanding supporting actor, for James Cromwell and Zachary Quinto; and outstanding supporting actress, for Sarah Paulson.

  1. The Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights. But only for those who kowtow to whatever Bill Donohue and his merry band o’ crazies believe.
How many members does the Catholic League for R&CR actually have? Who are they? Who are its donors? Who does this guy actually speak for? Besides himself, that is.
Bill Donohue is the Fred Phelps of the Catholic Church.

  2. Yeah, pervert priests, kids damaged for life (many of those lives then end way too soon thanks to a group who thinks that getting “help” for the offender is more important than helping the victims, practically handing them the rope and the Boy Scout’s Guide to Knots) and it’s somehow Hollywood’s fault.
Of course, if this series wasn’t up for a ton of Emmy’s I’m sure they would have let it slide LIKE THEY HAVE EVERY OTHER SEASON SO FAR.
Listen up, Billy and all the rest of you obvious examples of psycho-sexual retardation because you still can’t deal with the fact that Father Donginpooper invited every Altar Boy to his “special confessional” EXCEPT YOU: Everybody who has told you all these years that it all had nothing to do with you were lying to you. Everything that happened was all YOUR fault, Jesus never abandoned you because He didn’t give a shite about you in the first place. So, here’s a one-way ticket to Topeka where you can hook up with Fred and you can give each other the butt-sex the two of you obviously crave because you never SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT IT. Then hold hands as you both walk into rush hour traffic, ridding us of at least two wastes of humanity.
