The high-profile Lindsay Lohan docuseries is gaining momentum at Oprah Winfrey’s OWN. As we reported previously, Lohan has what has been reported as a $2 million deal with the cable network.
The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports that veteran producer Craig Piligian is on board, along with his Pilgrim Studios banner. Piligian was also behind OWN’s "Raising Whitley," the story notes.
Piligian will executive produce the eight-hour Lohan docuseries, which will focus on Lohan’s attempt to put her career back on track and avoid the kinds of distractions that have derailed her in the past. The show is scheduled to roll out in 2014.
"For Pilgrim, the Lohan vehicle marks his latest foray into the unscripted arena, joining a long roster of titles including ‘The Big Brain Theory,’ ‘My Fair Wedding,’ ‘The Ultimate Fighter,’ ‘Wicked Tuna,’ ‘Top Shot,’ ‘Top Hooker,’ ‘Swamp Pawn,’ ‘Dirty Jobs’ and ‘American Chopper,’ among scores of others," the story reports. "Piligian also executive produced TV movie ‘Amanda Knox: Murder on Trial.’"
Piligian, who reportedly has not yet met with Lohan, called the project a "work in progress," telling THR: "Lindsay is a great subject, a great actress and we’re really excited to be in business with her. We’re excited about the project and can’t wait to get started."
The report notes: "News of the Lohan docuseries comes as the actress has struggled with her sobriety, making headlines during the filming of Lifetime’s high-profile Elizabeth Taylor TV movie ‘Liz & Dick’ and the feature ‘The Canyons.’ Most recently, her efforts to return to the success she had with ‘Mean Girls’ and ‘Herbie’ have included arcs on Fox’s ‘Glee’ and FX’s Charlie Sheen comedy ‘Anger Management,’ with the vocal actor noting Lohan held the production ‘hostage’ after delivering ‘half a show,’ often arriving two hours late."
An interview with Lohan by Winfrey is set for Aug. 18 on "Oprah’s Next Chapter."
