A series that has been performing well for CBS this summer hit a stumbling block in the ratings Monday night, paving the way for a prime-time win by ABC, based on Nielsen overnights for the key 18-49 demo.

TVbytheNumbers.com reports that CBS’s hit summer drama "Under the Dome" lost 12% from its week-ago number in viewers 18-49, recording a series-low 2.3 average rating. The network still managed a second-place finish for prime time, even with the rest of its lineup consisting of repeats.

ABC, meanwhile, got a winning result out of its three-hour special "CMA Music Festival: Country’s Night to Rock." The show surged 33% from last year’s broadcast, delivering a 2.0 average in the 18-49 demo.

NBC’s all-new lineup of "American Ninja Warrior" (up 14% from a week ago to a 1.6 average in 18-49), "Get Out Alive With Bear Grylls" (up 8% to a 1.4) and "Siberia" (up 17% from a series low last week to a 0.7) all showed improvement, but the Peacock still found itself in fourth place among the broadcast networks.

Fox continued to roll out repeats and settled for fifth place.

For prime time overall, ABC’s 2.0 average led the way in adults 18-49, followed by CBS (1.4 average), Univision (1.3), NBC (1.2) and Fox (0.7). ABC also won total viewers, averaging 8.2 million to top CBS (6.1 million), NBC (3.5 million), Univision (3.4 million) and Fox (1.5 million).

  1. Any chance the Under The Dome ratings are in some small way attributable to the fact that CBS is essentially blacked out in most of NYC due to the TWC/CBS retransmission dispute?
