Closure Coming for Fans of ‘The Borgias’ — But Not on TV

Aug 13, 2013  •  Post A Comment

Fans of Showtime’s canceled series "The Borgias" failed to convince the network to bring the historical drama back, but they will get closure after all with an e-book written by creator Neil Jordan, reports the Los Angeles Times’ Show Tracker.

Jordan has written "The Borgia Apocalypse," which will serve as a conclusion to the series.

"Hard-core fans worried that this smacks of a hurried Band-Aid to a deep wound can take comfort in the fact that the book is actually based on the unproduced script Jordan had already written for the two-hour ‘Borgias’ series finale," the story reports.

The series ended its run in June after three seasons.

  1. After reading the introduction of the ebook, Neil sent us a message in his own way. That was the most important part for us; Being that Neil still wants to make it so we will push forward and continue to for a 4th season. We are right on track, don’t give up Borgias Family! Please help us get more votes on: SMGO.TV please!!! We will have real options presented from Showtime hopefully really soon! This is just the beginning family! An ebook isn’t what we asked for for!! They want to give us table scraps instead of a season or an mini-series. This is such an insult. Don’t take this lying down! Vote Now for a mini-series or a movie now at: SMGO

  2. Fans are not placated by the release of this script. Feedback clearly is showing that many fans feel that the script was rushed in response to David Nevins’ thoughtless canceling of a series that was so obviously supposed to last for at least another season. The introduction, written by Mr. Jordan, says so much when he writes that he was creating a “40-hour film”. If Showtime and Mr. Nevins think that the release of this “ebook” will quell the series’ fans, the network and he are sadly mistaken. Quite the contrary. It has only served to embolden fans and renew their dedication to work towards seeing a full season of The Borgias. SMGO.TV has joined forces with the Save The Borgias Fan Campaign and other fan groups to help fans reach their objective.
Fans can join and support the effort. More information can be found at: savetheborgiasfc.com/united-with-smgotv.html.

  4. The eBook did offer some temporary salve, but the relief was short-lived. The Borgias’ fans are a dedicated bunch and many are renewing their insistence for a 4th season after reading the published screenplay. In fact, the screenplay, while answering a “what happens next?” question, really just shows that a full 4th season would be the best option for this series. The story, the actors and, of course, the fans deserve to see The Borgias played out across their screens for a 4th season. If the introduction to the screenplay from Neil Jordan is any indication, he would like to do the same. And, of course, if you would like to vote to Save The Borgias, you can do that here at: http://www.smgo.tv/shows/the-borgias/
