Fired Fox News executive Brian Lewis, who was booted from the company amid allegations of financial misconduct and breach of contract, is going quietly — resisting the opportunity to fight back against his former bosses. But Lewis said some of the reports surrounding his departure were "pure fiction," reports the Los Angeles Times.

Lewis said he had a "great 20 years" working for Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes, but declined to talk about the specifics of his departure or the charges made. He said the harshness surrounding the situation "comes with the territory," the story adds.

One rumor about his departure was that Lewis had been secretly helping New York magazine writer Gabriel Sherman on his book about Ailes and Fox News. "People are going to say what they are going to say," Lewis said.

He declined to comment on whether his departure stemmed from a contract dispute gone wrong, the report adds.

As previously reported, Lewis was fired by Ailes for what the news company said are “issues relating to financial irregularities, as well as for multiple, material and significant breaches of his employment contract."
