Fox TV Studios Bows Out of Hillary Clinton Project

Fox TV Studios, which had been in talks to step in as producer of the Hillary Clinton miniseries that is in the works at NBC, is out of the picture, Deadline.com reports.

"The two companies had been in preliminary talks, with the two sides far apart, and were never able to bridge the gap on the deal terms," the story reports. "The economics of TV movies and miniseries are challenging, which is why very few production companies take on such programs these days. That includes NBC’s own studio, Universal TV, which would not produce NBC’s longform projects, including ‘Hillary.’"

Diane Lane is attached to play Hillary Clinton in the miniseries. The project has been a rallying cry for the Republican National Committee, which voted today to ban both NBC and CNN from 2016 GOP primary debates because both networks have Hillary Clinton projects in the works.

NBC News Chief White House Correspondent Chuck Todd has called the Clinton miniseries “a total nightmare” for the network’s news division.
