The NBC comedy project "Girlfriend in a Coma" is back on track after signing on "The Devil Wears Prada" director David Frankel, reports Deadline.com.
The project has been dormant for four months, after star Christina Ricci left the show in March, the story says. The pilot is now moving toward production with Frankel signed on, while original cast members Miranda Cosgrove and Daniel Stern are still on board, the story says.
The project is based on Douglas Coupland’s book of the same name, which tracks a woman who was in a coma for many years and wakes to find she has a 17-year-old daughter, played by Cosgrove. Stern plays the girl’s dad.
