A 13-year-old actor is getting buzz as the next Disney teen star, with the company casting him as the lead in two Disney XD pilots, reports Nellie Andreeva on Deadline.com.

Jacob Bertrand has the lead in "Kirby Buckets" and "Neckpee Island," although Disney XD intends to move only one of the projects to series, the story says.

"That is a special treatment given only to talent Disney brass strongly believe would be their next breakout star. Disney XD sibling Disney Channel used the same tactic for Selena Gomez eight years ago," Andreeva writes.

At that time, Disney cast Gomez in two pilots, one of them being "Wizards of Waverly Place," which went on to become a hit.

Bertrand was previously a regular on "Marvin Marvin" and guest-starred on "iCarly."

"Kirby Buckets" is about a boy of the same name who wants to be a famous animator, and while trying to meet his idol, he and his two best friends run into a series of disasters, such as a low-speed lawn mower chase, the story says.

"Neckpee Island" is about a troublemaker whose dad decides to move their family to a remote island in order to keep the boy out of trouble.
