A popular Gen X movie is now a television project, with the film’s director working on a version for NBC, reports Deadline.com. The movie is "Reality Bites," which starred Winona Ryder and Ethan Hawke and was directed by Ben Stiller.
Stiller, who also acted in the movie, is working with writer Helen Childress on the project, which will follow recent college grad Lelaina Pierce as she seeks romance and professional success in the early 1990s.
The project is set in Houston and will feature Lelaina with her video camera as she tracks her "slacker" friends. In the movie, Ryder played the Lelaina character.
The project is produced by Universal Television.
