Tea Party Group Urges Comcast Customers to Cancel Subscriptions

A conservative political group has launched a campaign aimed at convincing Comcast customers to cancel their subscriptions, according to The Hollywood Reporter. In a new video posted online and set to become a TV commercial (see the video below), the Tea Party organization FreedomWorks focuses its anger on MSNBC, and in particular, Al Sharpton.

The group is sending emails to 2.3 million people in an effort to convince them to cancel their Comcast subscriptions as a way to send the company an anti-MSNBC message, the story reports.

"By paying your Comcast cable bill, your money is helping to pay for Al Sharpton’s salary," the video says. "Switch your cable provider now."

FreedomWorks calls MSNBC host Sharpton a "known race-card hustler," the story adds. The video will be turned into a commercial that will air in areas where Comcast is dominant.

The email reportedly tells people, "Cable company Comcast owns the left-wing media outlet MSNBC that broadcasts propaganda instead of news … If you have Comcast, tell CEO Brian Roberts you don’t want to pay for propaganda.”

Comcast, MSNBC and NBCUniversal didn’t respond to requests for comment, the story adds.

  1. These guys really are dumber than a bag of hammers. This is the equivilent of “keep the government out of my Medicare.” All satellite and cable providers that carry MSNBC (all of them) pay his and everyone elses salary through retransmission consent fees to NBC’s parent.
Although I agree Sharpton is a known lieing race baiter, if they want to do the country any good stop tuning into him and the other known lieing race baiters, Limbaugh and Beck.

  2. No Tim, they’re not dumber than a bag of hammers, they’re dumber than a box of rocks. Every time I hear something out of the Tea Party, it’s dumber than what preceeded it. Telling people to cut the cable to spite Al Sharpton, will also cut off Fox “News”. The Tea Party is exceedingly good at cutting of its nose to spite its face.
And now, for something truly amazing: I agree with them on a couple of points. Al Sharpton was a keynote speaker at the Upper Midwest Communications Conclave in Minneapolis a few years back; he pointed out all sorts of problems with all sorts of things in his speech. I had a few minutes with him afterwards, and when I asked him for his solutions to the problems he had outlined, he had nothing, nothing at all.
Second point: Everyone should get rid of Comcast.

  3. Kinda wish I had it so I could dump it!

  4. I love Rev Al, he is doing a wonderful job.
