A bestselling true-life detective book has been bought by The Weinstein Co., which is considering it for a TV miniseries, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The book is "The Hour of Peril," which focuses on the true story of detectives trying to disrupt a plot to assassinate President Abraham Lincoln.

"Daniel Stashower’s ‘The Hour of Peril’ is an untold and landmark moment in American history, with the suspense and fervor of a crime thriller, which will make for immensely captivating television," said Meryl Poster, president of television at The Weinstein Co.

THR notes, "Broadcast and cable networks are lapping up miniseries of late, with a wave of high-profile ‘limited’ and ‘event’ entries in the genre coming on the heels of 2012’s ‘Hatfields & McCoys’ on History."

The Weinstein Co. has previously successfully adapted the book series "The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency" for HBO with Anthony Minghella, the piece notes.
