Kanye West reportedly turned down an offer to join the judges’ panel on "American Idol," according to US Weekly.
The reason? He reportedly didn’t want to "go that mainstream," the story says, citing an unnamed source. The Fox show had asked West to take up the third and final spot on the judge’s panel, joining Keith Urban and Jennifer Lopez, the piece reports.
"He didn’t want to lose any street cred. So he turned it down," the source adds.
"Idol" producers are currently leaning toward songwriter and record producer Dr. Luke as the third judge, although they’ve met with three contenders: will.i.am, Sean "Diddy" Combs and Rodney Jerkins, the story says.
