Anchor Brian Williams will be missing from "NBC Nightly News" for a while. TVNewser reports that Williams will take a leave of absence while he undergoes knee replacement surgery.
Williams will be off the show for at least a few weeks while his right knee is operated on. The anchor dedicated part of Thursday’s show to the surgery, which requires patients to take anywhere from three weeks to three months before they can walk somewhat normally, the piece reports.
Williams’ role will be handled by Lester Holt while he’s out. Williams’ knee problems stem from a high school football injury.
