Former Nickelodeon star Amanda Bynes is mentally unfit to stand trial, according to her attorney, reports TMZ.com. Bynes was scheduled to appear in court Tuesday on her DUI arrest in West Hollywood in April 2012, but her attorney told the judge that the troubled actress didn’t have the mental capacity to understand the proceedings.

The judge then transferred the case to the mental health court, which will hold a hearing about her mental competency, the story reports.

Bynes is receiving long-term treatment after being placed under a conservatorship, the report notes.

Bynes, who surfaced as a star in TV shows including "All That" and "The Amanda Show," has been institutionalized since a bizarre incident in July in which she reportedly set a fire in a residential driveway in Thousand Oaks, Calif., and was videotaped in a liquor store trying to remove gasoline from her dog.
