Early indications are good for the new late-night show starring veteran Arsenio Hall, which premiered in syndication Monday night to strong viewer numbers.
"The Arsenio Hall Show" opened as the top late-night broadcast program in the demos of adults 18-49 and adults 25-54, based on Nielsen figures for Local People Meter markets. The show delivered a 1.0/4 in 18-49 and a 1.2/5 in 25-54.
The premiere scored a 1.9/4 in households, up 90% from the year-ago time period average of 1.0/2 in September 2012.
The program also bucked the normal late-night trend of declining from lead-ins as viewers go to bed. "Arsenio" was up 19% from its lead-ins, rising from a 1.6/3 to a 1.9/4.
The program surged 60% over its lead-ins in New York and 88% in Los Angeles.
Hall ended his previous late-night talk show 19 years ago.
