A cable drama series has been hitting ratings home runs, and that hot streak continued Sunday. The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports that AMC’s "Breaking Bad" set a series record with 6.4 million total viewers.
"’Ozymandias,’ dubbed the best episode in the series’ history by The Hollywood Reporter TV critic Tim Goodman, was up 102 percent from the comparable showing last year — and bested the previous record, set by the recent return, by half a million viewers," THR reports. "Among adults 18-49, the series set another high with 4.05 million viewers in the targeted demographic. The 3.59 million adults 25-54 brought another record."
The series finale is due in two weeks. As we reported last week, the series will have a spinoff on AMC focused on the character Saul Goodman, played by Bob Odenkirk.
"AMC also cites SocialGuide’s Twitter findings from Sunday night, noting the series generated 604,765 mentions — with a peak of 16,329 tweets per minute during the episode’s final 10 minutes," THR notes, adding: "Star Aaron Paul, who live-tweeted the episode, surpassed 1 million followers during the broadcast."
