With Tina Fey returning to "Saturday Night Live" for the NBC late-night staple’s season opener, the sketch show’s ratings held steady to its most recent finale, The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports.

The Fey-hosted season 39 premiere, with Arcade Fire as the musical guest, drew an average 4.7 rating in metered-market households, the story notes.

"That’s even with the most recent episode and within an inch of last year’s opener, hosted by Seth MacFarlane with musical guest Frank Ocean (4.8 rating)," the piece notes.

Fey, a former head writer for "SNL," hosted for the third time since she left the show.

The report adds: "Among the 25 markets with Local People Meters, ‘SNL’ averaged a 2.8 rating among adults 18 to 49. That’s up from the season finale, its best demo showing since April, and even with last season’s premiere."
