Judge’s Job on ‘American Idol’ Reportedly Locked In

"American Idol" has reportedly locked down who will be sitting in the third judge’s seat for the upcoming 13th season of the show, with singer Harry Connick Jr. set to join Keith Urban and Jennifer Lopez on the panel, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Connick surfaced last week as a contender for the job, after Dr. Luke dropped out due to a conflict with his record label, Sony Music. Rival Universal Music Group holds exclusive rights to "Idol" recordings.

Producers of "Idol" were reluctant to hire another woman judge given that the friction last season between Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj didn’t score well with the show’s older female viewers, the story adds.
