Miley Cyrus’ crude twerking at the MTV Video Music Awards in Brooklyn last month cost the actress and singer a high-profile gig as the model for the December cover of Vogue, according to the U.K. publication The Daily Mail.
“Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour had been eager to champion [Cyrus] as a new fashion icon,” the story says, “but changed her mind after seeing the singer perform her overtly sexual routine in latex bra and knickers.”
Performing at the VMAs with singer Robin Thicke, Cyrus repeatedly bent over, gyrating against Thicke and stroking her crotch with a large foam finger.
The report quotes a source saying: “Anna found the whole thing distasteful. She decided, based on Miley’s performance, to take the cover in a different direction.”
