An actor from NBC’s comedy series "Community" has landed a multicamera comedy at the network with a significant penalty, Deadline.com reports. The project, from Ken Jeong, is based on the actor’s life before he went into comedy, the piece reports.
Called "Dr. Ken," the project will be about Jeong’s background as a licensed physician. Jared Stern, a feature comedy writer from "The Internship," is writing the project, which comes from "Community" producer Sony Pictures TV and the studio-based Davis Entertainment.
Jeong is a regular on "Community," whose fifth season may be its last, the report notes. The story adds that if the NBC comedy does continue, "Things could be worked out as both shows are with NBC and Sony TV."
Besides "Community," Jeong is known for his performances in "The Hangover" movies.
