An actress who has one Oscar on her shelf — along with five other Academy Award nominations — is signed up for a major role in an upcoming ABC series.
Deadline.com reports that Vanessa Redgrave, who won an Oscar in 1978 for "Julia," will co-star in the network’s 13-episode limited drama series "The Black Box." Redgrave will appear opposite Kelly Reilly, the report notes.
The project, written by Amy Holden Jones ("The Relic," "Mystic Pizza"), is slated to run in 2014.
"Simon Curtis is directing the project, executive produced by Jones; Ilene Chaiken, who serves as showrunner; Bryan Singer; 3 Arts’ Oly Obst; and Anne Thomopoulos," the report notes, adding that the series "centers on Elizabeth Black (Reilly), a world-renowned neuroscientist who appears to have it all but is constantly haunted by her own struggle with mental illness. And that is not the only secret she’s kept locked away from her family and her new fiance."
Redgrave is set to play Elizabeth’s psychiatrist and confidante.
