A talk show that has been a ratings juggernaut in daytime is off to its best start in history with its new season. The show is "Ellen," which delivered its best premiere week of all time for the week of Sept. 9, based on preliminary national data.
The show, which stars Ellen DeGeneres, notched a preliminary 2.6 average household rating for the week. That number tops its 2.5 for premiere week in the 2012-13 season — which itself was up from a 2.3 for 2011-12 and a 2.1 for 2010-11.
The show’s launch in 2003 delivered a 1.4 average for the week, and numbers have trended up since then.
