A television icon whose career spans many decades has been honored by Guinness World Records. Deadline.com reports that the organization recognized "Hot in Cleveland" star Betty White, naming the 91-year-old as the holder of the record for "Longest TV Career for an Entertainer (Female)."

The new category was created to recognize White’s 74 years as an entertainer, the story says.

English TV host Bruce Forsyth, who also has a 74-year career, holds the male title.

White started her career in radio in 1939 and has had something of a comeback in recent years, hosting "Saturday Night Live" in 2010 after a petition helped get her on the show. NBC later created "Betty White’s Off Their Rockers," which was canceled earlier this year after two seasons.

  1. I’d hit that

  2. Mickey Rooney began in movies in 1929 until 2014, which is 10 years greater in length then the make stated above….

  3. Rose Marie. 1923-2017…..THAT is a LONG time!

  4. Clearly Rose Marie is the longest active celebrity, having begun on the radio at age three- that math means 91 years!!
