ABC has a project in development with Chris Weitz of "About a Boy," based on the book "Beta," Deadline.com reports. The young adult book is written by Rachel Cohn.
Adapted by movie writer Lindsay Devlin, the project is about a future where clones are enslaved as workers for the elite. But a new Beta model discovers her own history and the utopia’s secrets, the piece adds.
The project is executive produced by Temple Hill’s Marty Bowen, Wyck Godfrey and Larry Gilbert, as well as Weitz, Andrew Miano and Paul Weitz, the story says. The project again pairs up "Twilight Saga: New Moon" director Chris Weitz with Temple Hill, which produced the movie franchise, the story says.
“We had a great time working with Temple Hill on ‘New Moon’ and are thrilled to be back in business with Wyck, Marty and Larry,” Chris Weitz said.
