A&E has a new unscripted series ready to premiere soon, and based on the promotional art (shown below), the show might be worth a look. The series is "Rodeo Girls," from The Weinstein Company and Left/Right.
"The six-episode series follows five female barrel racers as they pack up their lives and their horses, to test their skills at rodeos across the country," the cable network says in its press release announcing the show. "Aspiring to keep their relationships and riding in check while they’re on the road, these ladies work hard, ride fast and play rough."
The series is set to bow Sunday, Dec. 15, at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
The competitors are model-turned-rodeo-queen Darcy “No Fear” LaPier (Says A&E: "With three famous husbands behind her, Darcy brings a big checkbook as well as her grit and determination to the competition."); Marvel Murphy, "a seasoned rider whose wild past haunts her at every fair ground and keeps her running in and out of the ring"; former champ Barb West, who returns to the circuit following two years of "nesting" after getting married; rookie racer Megan Etcheberry, who "grew up on the circuit, but still needs to win some races before she can officially call herself a pro"; and youth barrel racing champ Jessica Holmberg, who "has the skills to compete, but not always the funds."
The network also suggests that a horde of womanizing cowboys — Ty Murphy and Anthony Lucia among them — will be lurking on the sidelines.
