The biggest show on television, outside of the National Football League, is a cable drama, and Deadline.com reports that the ratings picture just keeps getting better for that series, AMC’s "The Walking Dead." Now the show can claim another record, and it’s a big one.
"With Live+3 numbers now in, the October 13 Season 4 debut of the AMC zombie apocalypse series added another 4.1 million viewers to the 16.1 million result of Live+Same Day," the story reports. "That 20.2 million viewership total gives ‘The Walking Dead’ premiere the title of the most watched non-sports telecast in cable history."
"Walking Dead" knocked Disney Channel’s "High School Musical 2," the previous holder of the title of top Live+3 non-sports telecast, off its perch. "Musical" had held the title since 2007.
"The Disney Channel movie drew 18.2 million viewers in Live+3, a 1 million addition over the 17.2 million it got in its August 17, 2007 telecast," Deadline reports, adding: "In terms of the key adults 18-49 demographic, ‘The Walking Dead’ continued its top spot hold and added another 2.8 million viewers to a total of 13.2 million."
