Syfy, the network that brought viewers "Sharknado," has two new movies in the pipeline as it seeks to follow up on the attention it got with its weather-related shark movie that became a social-media phenomenon.

Lisa de Moraes reports on Deadline.com that the new Syfy projects include one about sea vampires and another about a weather system that hurls boulders.

"Syfy announced [Thursday] that on Saturday, November 9, it will premiere its new movie about a sister and brother team, prospecting for gold in an underwater cave, who accidentally disturb a colony of blood-sucking amphibious predators, aka sea vampires, who can function on land without having to wait for some freakish weather system to wreak havoc on the area — just dim-witted gold-prospecting siblings," de Moraes writes.

The project is called "Beast of the Bering Sea" and stars Jonathan Lipnicki, who as a child was known for his role in "Jerry Maguire," as the brother. His sister will be played by "Sharknado" actress Cassie Scerbo.

On Nov. 23, Syfy will air "Stonados," about "a freak weather system that causes the hurling of deadly boulders. Which is to say they are deadly boulders that are being hurled — they’re not hurling boulders, which would be a medical drama, on TLC," the story notes.

  1. I heard they would get “The Fonze” to jump over a massive tornado cloud bank on a rocket powered motorcycle!
