NBC Goes Back in Time for the Concept Behind Two New Series

NBC is developing two new sci-fi dramas, reaching back in time to the early 1990s for the possible inspiration. Deadline.com reports that both shows involve time travel — conjuring up memories of NBC’s popular cult time-jump series "Quantum Leap," which went off the air in 1993.

In fact, one of the new projects is from a former co-executive producer of "Quantum Leap," while the other is from the creator of another show involving time travel.

The latter project, "Lighthouse," is from Josh Friedman, the creator of "The Sarah Connor Chronicles." The show is set at a mysterious hotel that caters to time travelers.

The other project is from former "Quantum Leap" co-executive producer Deborah Pratt. Called "Timeless," the project is about a woman who time travels between the future and the present day.

"’Timeless’ is … about provoking thought and asking the proverbial question, ‘What if?’ which is a feat and I believe that we did that incredibly well on ‘Quantum Leap,’” Pratt said.
