TNT has renewed a docu-drama series. The Los Angeles Times’ Show Tracker reports that the cable channel will bring back "Cold Justice" for a second season. The show ranks as one of the top five new unscripted shows on basic cable this year, the story notes.

The show, from Wolf Films and Magical Elves, has led to a number of real-world legal actions, such as a guilty plea in a Texas case and three murder indictments in a Louisiana case, the story notes.

"We’re very proud to be renewing ‘Cold Justice,’ which has already delivered real-world results for several of the cases featured on the show," said David Eilenberg, TNT’s senior vice president of unscripted development, in a statement.

The first season of the show ends Oct. 22, with the second season slated for an early 2014 debut.
